Code of ethics and conduct:
1. Be honest, giving realistic work start dates & receipt
work undertaken.
2. Keep appointments, call if late or re-scheduling.
3. Be polite and treat customers' property with utmost respect.
4. Never demand full payment before work is fully completed.
5. Inform customers of any minimum charge or call out fees.
6. Return telephone messages on the same day.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
1. Payment is due within seven days
of invoice. Prompt payment is expected.
A credit charge at the rate of 1.5% per month or pro rata may
be charged
on overdue accounts. An administration charge of five pounds may
be
charged for each reminder sent on overdue accounts.
2. All bank charges (e.g. bounced cheques) caused by the client
will be charged for.
3. The contractor will not accept liability for any acts of vandalism,
theft, or accidental
damage to his work unless caused by the contractor or his employees.
4. The contractor will not accept liability for damage to services
e.g. gas,
water electricity and telephone unless the positions of these
have been
clearly and accurately indicated to the contractor by the client
on a suitable sketch-plan
before work on the contract commences.
5. The contractor will not accept liability for delays caused
by strikes, lock-outs,
labour disputes, accidents, nesting birds, bats, or any other
cause beyond
the control of the contractor.
6. Upon completion of the work, all surplus materials will remain
the property
of the contractor, and will be removed from the site unless other
arrangements are made in writing between the contractor and the
client.
7. On certain soil types the removal or major pruning of a tree
that
is in proximity to a building may cause the building to heave
or
subside. All such considerations are beyond the scope of my knowledge.
The client should seek expert opinion from a chartered building
surveyor or other qualified person concerning any buildings, patios,
or other hard landscape features.
8. Work will only be commenced following receipt of a written
acceptance
of the Quotation and the Terms & Conditions of contract.
9. It is the responsibility of the client check with the local
council with regard
to "Tree Preservation Order", "Conservation Area",
or other planning
restrictions, and to obtian any permission required.
10. The client is responsible for informing his neighbours of
all work, to his
"property or boundaries, which might be of concern to them,
and to obtain "
their consent before work starts.
11. The client is responsible for obtaining permission for the
work to be done
from the tree(s) owner(s), (usually the freehold land owner),
before work begins.
